About Us

Meechanomics Limited is the company name which manages / runs / dreamed up the Wave™ Gift Card. Meechanomics Limited was founded and is owned by Caroline Meechan – me.

The name Meechanomics comes from a family name which was used by my husband and his brothers whenever they discussed an interesting way of economics which was not what anybody else would consider economical. For example when working out spread betting for the dogs at Walthamstow (a family tradition each Boxing Day) or some other such scheme.

The idea of a gift card for watersports was considered by me first in 2004. I had just had my second child and knew that working full time, travelling the World for my job and all the responsibilities I had was not going to be easy with two children.

I was working within the gift card and voucher industry and so knew how the business worked. I have been an enthusiastic although not very proficient waterskiier for many years and also enjoy sailing, scuba diving, windsurfing – really anything out on the water. It seemed obvious to tie together my knowledge, contacts, skills etc with something I loved doing myself.

However, the man I was working for at the time was found to have a terminal illness. I did not want to leave my job whilst he was poorly and so worked with him until late Summer 2006 when he lost his battle. The decision to leave corporate life and set up on my own was made at the end of 2006 and after working 6 months’ notice I set up Meechanomics Limited and here we are.
